I am an architect by training with particular interests in housing design and sustainable neighborhood planning. For 13 years I was a principal in a New York City firm specializing in affordable and senior housing as well as community facilities. I am also the author and co-illustrator of Ranches, Rowhouses & Railroad Flats: American Homes, How They Shape Our Landscapes and Neighborhoods, published in 1999 by WW Norton & Company.

Since stepping back from the firm in 2020 and gradually retiring, I've been able to spend time studying photography, focusing most recently on environmental portraiture and street photos. My work explores how people and places define and relate to each other.
